Message from Mayor Alan P. Krasnoff  

Friends,

I want to express my appreciation to Nancy Parr for her dedication and commitment to our city during that past 15 years, and especially for her focused efforts as our Commonwealth's Attorney to help keep Chesapeake at the top of the list as one of our nation's safest cities. 
 
On my first day as mayor, Chesapeake lost two young men as a result of senseless violence. When the call went out, Nancy Parr was one of the first to step forward to help our community make sense of what had happened, but also to craft real solutions that would have an immediate and meaningful impact. It mattered. And it made a difference. 
 
Thankfully for us, those efforts didn't start last year. 
 
In her first year in office, Nancy Parr began a domestic violence prosecution program in 2005. In 2006, she started a special community prosecution program. Each has made a difference, because they let our community know we were fortunate enough to be served by a Commonwealth's Attorney who cared. . . and could be counted on to help in times of personal need. 
 
As part of Nancy Parr's ongoing work to help prevent crime, she has been actively involved in outreach programs covering identity theft, bullies and elder abuse. For those who might be too young, she helped create coloring books covering topics as diverse as drug abuse, gangs, guns and conflict resolution. 
 
Whether in times of calm or times of crisis, Nancy Parr has been the kind of level-headed and pro-active Commonwealth's Attorney we need. 
 
For many reasons, but most of all because I have seen firsthand what her commitment can mean to those who want nothing more than honest, simple justice, Nancy Parr has my support. 
 
In short, we owe Nancy Parr a great deal. And now is the time to pay our debt to her. 
 
Please join me to help re-elect Nancy Parr as our city's Commonwealth's Attorney. Now more than ever, it's the right thing to do.
